  Re...Alito's sticky thicket

<>by: Francis Meehan Sunday, December 11, 2005

Former judge, Ken Starr (aka: Clinton persecutor), gets the political award for "Brass Balls". His co-authored Op-Ed lays bare his political case you missed it during the 90's.

He stated that: (emphasis mine)

Americans have long embraced the ideal of equality from ''all men are created equal" forward. Equality did not mean identical political influence in every respect.

I felt compelled to look up embraced. According to a couple of sources, it is defined as follows:

· To take up willingly or eagerly: embrace a social cause.

· to take up especially readily or gladly <embrace a cause>

Dumbfounded, silly, ignorant, willful avoidance; are just some of the words that describe Starr's description of equality in America.

''All men are created equal", as used and quoted by Starr suggests that all men are also treated equally.

Here's just a few issues that Starr forgot: (in no particular order).

· suffragettes

· Civil War

· Rosa Parks

· Bull Connor

· Martin Luther King

· 1964 Civil Rights Act

· 1965 Voting Rights Act

Ken Starr represents those who have denied, not embraced, equality for those few issues. He is a disgrace to the judiciary and the country.
